Miami mother delivers baby on her own during Hurricane Irma, which inspired the newborn’s name

Regardless of tragedy hurricane season and the commotion there is one storm who brought some relief.  

As Hurricane Irma tore through Florida over the weekend, it circulated the many, many who remained behind to brave the storm out. Sunday afternoon in Miami’s Haiti neighborhood, one woman found herself having to deliver her baby alone, with just the aid of paramedics who guided her over the phone through the process.

According to the Miami Herald, assistant fire chief Eloy Garcia, followed protocol. Fortunately, phone lines were busy although due to the hurricane & rsquo; s potency, authorities nor paramedics could physically get to the woman.  

Garcia stated, “She sent the placenta, too. We made contact with the assistant medical director here. Talked things through.”  

The town of Miami-Dade and Miami’s authorities Twitter accounts, tweeted upgrades on a healthy baby girl’s birth, including a picture.

Her birth was not just hung over by Hurricane Irma, it also inspired the baby’s name.
