McDonald’s Black Friday tweet is a classic social media fail

For name brands like McDonald’s, it’s crucial to get your marketing and promotion spot on — particularly on holidays.

Mistakes do happen, though.

On Friday afternoon, the official @McDonaldsCorp account posted what we are guessing was likely a scheduled tweet. The idea was clearly to promote some kind of Black Friday offer.

Things didn’t really go to plan.

Oh dear.

That conversation has been up for over three-and-a-half hours. Here’s the screengrab, for if it inevitably gets deleted:

Twitter enjoyed it, although it may not have been exactly what McDonald had planned.

And someone pointed out the upside.

It’s a fair point: this tweet has now been shared over 4000 times, which can be roughly 4000 more shares than their past tweet got. Every cloud, and all that.

Mashable has reached out to McDonald’s for comment.
