Baby

This viral TV segment hilariously obliterates the idea that baby formula is bad.

In “Adam Ruins Everything,” comedian Adam Conover brutally and takes down shared truths and myths.

During the show’s run, Conover has “destroyed” (through facts!) Matters like polygraph tests, nutrient psuedo-science, and diamond engagement rings.

At a recent episode, he took aim at something that has parents everywhere raising an eyebrow: baby formula.

That is right. Contrary to popular belief, infant formula is a totally safe and healthful solution for most families that are new.

The drive in recent years to normalize and observe breastfeeding has been great, but one unfortunate side effect is that it occasionally Contributes to the shaming or even demonizing of parents who have to Or simply decide to feed their babies formula.

The viral clip explains it perfectly:

The science is clear with this: Breastfeeding isn’t the only way to nourish your infant. It’s not the only approach to bond together, either.

You might have heard that breastfeeding releases something called the “love hormone,” or oxytocin, which fortifies the mother-baby bond.

Welp. Conover is here to ruin that for you, also. Yay!

“Oxytocin is a hormone that gets discharged when you do things like hug or cuddle,” he states. “But the same hormone is released when you do things like fire a gun or see pornography”

To put it differently, he states, there is just no scientific proof that formula feeding is detrimental to your relationship with your infant, physically or emotionally.

Most doctors still recommend breastfeeding, but it’s important to not forget that this is a choice, not a mandate.

These myths regarding formula feeding are long overdue for a fantastic bustin’. And while many women can not breastfeed for different physical reasons, it’s also totally cool to simply decide not to.

Now that we understand breastfeeding and formula feeding are equally totally fine, secure, and healthy options, let us just let moms mom however they wish to mom.
