Tesla hopes to sell 100,000 electric vehicles in 2018. But vehicles don’unless chargers are easily available and convenient, t make much sense. That’therefore the Workplace Charging program is being introduced by Tesla.
It will allow offices and company to apply for a Wall Connector to be installed in the company garage or parking lot. And, except for the actual electricity used by workers installation and the Wall Connector will be liberated to the land managers.
This isn’t too different from Tesla’s Destination Charging program, which provides chargers at restaurants, hotels, and hotels with free installation, provided that property owners cover the cost of electricity. However, those chargers are exhibited on rsquo Tesla & navigation systems and available to use openly.
The Workplace Charging program is meant to serve workers who are employed in the buildings whose land managers or businesses apply for the program. Don’t even expect to roll up to a arbitrary HQ and juice up the Model 3.
Tesla supplied the following announcement to Electrek:
Since rsquo & Tesla; s fleet it is more important than ever for our customers in order to easily charge their cars where they park. The most convenient way to charge is to plug in immediately in your home, and for most people, this is. For others its new Workplace Charging program is being introduced by Tesla. Charging at work is easy and convenient, simply plug in and your auto is billed by the time you’re finished for the day.
For property managers who choose to supply an EV charging option or qualified employers, Tesla will review, contribute their Tesla Wall Connectors and provide installation help. Energy costs are the responsibility of the property.
Interested businesses can sign up for the program on Tesla’s website.
