Seattle Seahawks defensive end Quinton Jefferson had to be restrained from climbing into the stands and facing Jacksonville Jaguars fans who threw food at him throughout Sunday’s match.
Jefferson was on his way into the locker room after being ejected from the match for unnecessary roughness once the episode occurred. Jefferson’s ejection was one of four penalties that the Seahawks racked up in the last minutes of an increasingly-tense match.
Since Jefferson neared the tube, an object which looked like food went flying over his head. Jefferson ceased to contend with the fans from the stands and that he was hit in the face with another flying object that seemed to be a beverage. That’s if he began to climb the railings.
Seahawks staff flocked Jefferson to the locker room while safety dealt with all the rowdy fans from the stands.
After the match, Jefferson was asked when he believed climbing into the stands was a fantastic idea. He responded by asking if it was a fantastic thought for lovers to throw a drink in a player (it’s not ― there’s precedent).
“People from the stands was pitching beer and throwing soda, all. I mean, I don’t understand what I’m supposed to perform,” Jefferson said, according to ESPN. “I’m a human just like anyone else. I’m a man exactly like another man from the stands. I’m not going to allow somebody disrespect me, throw a beer on me. ”
The Jaguars defeated the Seahawks 30-24.
