Just 1 week after legalizing recreational marijuana, Nevada’s supply has already come to an end!
That’s right, more people want pot than Nevada’s providers can keep up with. The issue is that stores must apply for a cannabis distribution license (just like a liquor license) — but so far only 47 have been granted.
Now that the nation’s governor has declared a state of crisis, it seems like they’re trying to rush more licenses through processing to keep up with demand.
The Nevada Tax Commission said in a statement on Tuesday that it will consider emergency regulations to Supply a construction for marijuana distribution to retailers, and might allow liquor wholesalers to get Involved with the weed world:
“According to reports of adult-use marijuana sales already far exceeding the industry’s expectations in the nation’s 47 accredited retail marijuana shops, and the fact that many shops are running out of stock, the Department has to deal with the lack of distributors immediately. Some establishments report the demand for delivery within the next several days.”
“The business owners in this industry have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to create facilities throughout the state. They’ve hired and trained tens of thousands of additional employees to meet the requirements of the market. Unless the issue with seller licensing is resolved quickly, the inability to send product to retail shops are going to lead to many of these people losing their jobs and will bring this nascent market to a grinding stop. A halt in this market will result in a hole in the nation’s school budget.”
Keep in mind, revenue only began on July 1 and this is already a problem!
Better figure something out quick, or those are going to be some pretty sad stoners! LOLz!
