British hard rock band Motorhead claims former guitarist Edward “Fast Eddie” Clarke has died aged 67.
Motorhead claims on Facebook that Clarke died Wednesday at a hospital while being treated for pneumonia.
Clarke joined Motorhead shortly after it had been set in 1975 by former Hawkwind bassist Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. He was the final survivor of the group’s classic lineup: Lemmy, Clarke and drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor.
Kilmister and Taylor both perished in 2015.
Clarke’s time in Motorhead produced some of the group’s greatest hits, including the ferocious anthem “Ace of Spades.”
Clarke abandoned Motorhead at 1982 and later forced the band Fastway.
A afterwards Motorhead guitarist, Phil Campbell, said on Facebook that Clarke “will probably be remembered because of his iconic riffs and was a genuine rock n roller. RIP Eddie.”
