Chamillionaire recently introduced Convoz with the preceding presentation to an investor and investor audience at the Upfront Summit at Los Angeles. They were wowed. My initial reaction was that this seemed like a great deal of effort for an in-demand person, but Chamillionaire didn’t think this would take more than scrolling through other social websites. He isn’t expecting everyone to receive a response, but considers “there’s a chance to prioritize the men and women who really deserve it. ”
He hopes that consumers won’t be as inclined to bully or harass others when they reveal their face and aren’t hiding behind an anonymous electronic persona. And unlike Twitter, where everybody can see people’s mentions, Convoz consumers are able to approve what’s being said about them publicly. It “provides the curator of the dialog some amount of control. ”
Constructing a social media platform isn’t easy. Other than the largest networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter, most have flamed out.
But Chamillionaire isn’t deterred and has set a lot of thought to his strategy. He was an entrepreneur-in-residence in Upfront Ventures where he sat in on startup pitches and heard firsthand about what worked and what didn’t. In addition, he did so so that prospective partners would know he’s committed and is not just another star with a side project together with his name attached. Convoz is a clear priority.
Above all, the Houston native stated that he wishes to send the message to others out of a similar upbringing they have more options for a successful life than being a rap star or even a basketball player. “I want to alter the narrative. ”
