Carrie Fisher Honored With Disney Legends Award & Beautiful Tribute Speech From Daughter Billie Lourd

Ever since

In Still Another touching minute, Billie wrote an acceptance speech on Carrie’s benefit — which was read by Disney chairman Bob Iger:

“As far back as I can recall, my mother and I have been Disney fanatics. I was obsessed with Ariel I wished to change my title. We moved to Disneyland so far that I now realize she’d have even enjoyed it more than I did. Becoming part of this Disney family was really an remarkable moment for her. She secretly always wanted to be a Disney princess, so becoming a Disney princess and a Disney legend would’ve been her final fantasy. I wish I will be present to take this award on my own behalf, but sadly, I am now focusing on American Horror Story. I am beyond thankful to Mr. Iger and everybody else at Disney with this unbelievable honor. Thank you , and may the force be with you constantly.”

Simply perfect. We are convinced Carrie would’ve enjoyed this tribute.

Other honorees included animators Clyde “Gerry” Geronimi along with Manuel Gonzales, Mark Hamill, Walt Disney Imagineer Wayne Jackson, Garry Marshall, comic book artist Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, filmmaker Julie Taymor, and Oprah Winfrey.
