Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who announced this week he’s running for U.S. Senate in Arizona, echoed the false claim that former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate is a “forgery document,” and said Congress should pass legislation requiring a full history test of presidential candidates’ birth certificates. Arpaio made the comments in a meeting using WABC. President Donald Trump pardoned Arpaio last year after he had been convicted of criminal contempt.
